The European Regional Science Association is pleased to announce in collaboration with RSAI, ERSA Slovak Section and the Department of Public Administration and Regional Development, Faculty of National Economy, University of Economics in Bratislava, the opportunity for Ph.D. students and young researchers to participate in the 31st ERSA Summer School which will be held from the 1st July to 8th July, 2018 at the University of Economics in Bratislava, Slovakia.

Preliminary structure of the summer school

Session A: Regional Policy and Planning: theories and objectives
In this session the key questions on the relevance of regional policy, its theoretical foundations and rationale will be discussed.

Session B: Practice of Policy Evaluation
This session will discuss the importance of evaluating policy interventions. Policy evaluation practitioners and advisors will share their experiences and knowledge on challenges and issues of evaluation practice.

Session C: Evaluation Methods of Policy Analysis
In this session topics such as program evaluation, research design, measurement, data management, statistical analysis and presentation will be covered. In class activities will provide hands on experience managing and analysing data.

Session D: Students’ presentations
All participants will have an opportunity to present their research and discuss concepts, data, methods and preliminary results. To each presenter a discussant will be appointed.
