2021 Annual Conference
Regional Science in times the pandemic, economic crisis and uncertainty
25-26 June 2021, Athens, Greece

Objective

The purpose of this conference is to provide a framework for dialogue to study the effects of innovation, research and technology on the transformation of the economy, the organization of space and the functioning of cities. Research and innovation, technology and the digital economy, competitiveness and exports are elements of the transformation of the economy and space in Greece as well. At the same time, entrepreneurship, start-ups, competitiveness and the extroversion of the economy are factors that significantly affect the possibility of regional development. These issues will be the focus of scientific analysis and policy at this conference.

The conference is addressed to the university and research community in Greece and abroad, to executives and collective bodies of public administration and self-government, to productive bodies, as well as to postgraduate students, PhD candidates and young researchers.

At the conference there will be a special session on Innovation and Intellectual Property issues and will be held in collaboration with the Industrial Property Organization of Greece. Finally, there will also be a special session for young scientists on urban, regional and local development.

It is noted that the conference may present presentations that fall into all scientific fields related to Regional Science such as Urban and Regional Development and Policy, Regional Development and Cohesion Policy, Statistical and Econometric Mapping Methods, Spatial Analysis Methods and Gender Analysis, and Real Estate Market etc. The conference may also consider requests for special conferences to be held by members of the Greek ERSA department.
