André Torre is a Research Professor of Economics at the University Paris-Saclay and INRAE (National Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Research). He is also the Holder of the Sporck Chair in Geography at the University of Liege 2025-2026.

Professor Torre is a Fellow of the Regional Science Association, the Recipient of the Hirotada Kohno Award 2024 and of the 5th International Award on Local/Territorial Development, a member of Academia Europaea, and of the French Academy of Agriculture.

He is the author of over 200 influential academic papers and 25 books in English, French and Italian, and has been recognized Top 0.5% of all scholars’ citations worldwide (ScholarGPS).

André Torre is an internationally recognized scholar and author, especially for his contributions to Proximity relations, and their importance in processes of Territorial Development, mainly in three fields: local interactions between firms and organizations; land use, urban-rural and political conflicts; and local dimensions of circular economy.
