Keynote Speakers
Prof. Eveline van Leeuwen, Wageningen University, Netherlands
Eveline van Leeuwen graduated in Land Use Planning (MSc) at the Wageningen University in 2002 and obtained a PhD in Economics at VU Amsterdam. She is now affiliated to Wageningen University as professor and chairholder of the Urban Economics group. Eveline has a broad interest in economic and social interactions between places at the regioal and urban level and how these interactions impact wellbeing/happiness; economic activities and participation. In her research, she focusses on the integration of micro- and macro approaches in the field of regional science. Linking agent-based modelling and microsimulation, with macro models is an important common thread. This novel approach was rewarded with two best paper awards and resulted in several invited presentations. Eveline serves as Vice-President of European Regional Science Association (ERSA).
Prof. Katarzyna Kopczewska, University of Warsaw, Poland
As a quantitative economist, Katarzyna Kopczewska deals with spatial modeling of geo-localized economic processes – location and co-location, agglomeration, concentration, diffusion, spatial interactions in relation to economic phenomena, companies, real estate, but also regional policy or public sector activities. She conducts methodological research on the implementation of data science methods for spatial analysis and combining them with classical spatial statistics and econometrics. She runs models in R and combines quantitative solutions with theory and problems of regional science and economic geography. Her interess is in geo-marketing issues, quantitative research on the effects of regional policy, location and co-location of companies, real estate valuation, and in the quantitative method in bootstrap and Monte Carlo as a big data solution and statistics for spatial distributions.
